Rhinecliff Event Catering is a purveyor of fine food, great service and memorable experiences. Owner James Chapman brings a quality, experience and personal touch of rare distinction to events provided by Rhinecliff Event Catering.
Since 2008, Rhinecliff Event Catering has catered a stunning array of events of all shapes and sizes, from weddings, galas, fundraisers, anniversaries, bar/bat mitzvahs to corporate events and group tours. To date we have catered over 400 fabulous weddings.
British born owner James Chapman has a lifetime of experience in hospitality spanning the globe. Trained in the grand kitchens of London to Executive Chef level, James was trained in French cuisine under Michelin starred Richard Shepherd, then went on to work and open restaurants around the world, from Barcelona, Venice and Athens, to Mexico City, Miami and Manila, finally landing in New York City where James was Director of Operations for the world famous Cipriani company. James opened Cipriani Dolci in Grand Central Station, Cipriani Le Specialita on 42nd Street, and the newly renovated Rainbow Room in 1999.

Amazing food, amazing people - thank you James!
On the varied journey of booking and planning your wedding, the food and the venue are going to generally be your biggest expense. You look around and you talk to potential caterers and talk about what YOU want - and some will not be flexible, thoughtful or give you the impression that they want your business :)
As soon as i spoke to James at Rhinecliff and he and his team sent back the first iteration of our menus, we were sold. They had listened, incorporated all the elements we asked for (and we had some pretty interesting dietary needs :) ), were so helpful and responsive and could handle the Rehearsal, Wedding Breakfast and Brunch elements perfectly.
When we traveled up for the tasting, we were hopeful that the food standard would be of the same standard! We were immensely happy to see that the food we were served was, in fact, even better than we hoped. Every course was exceptional. The service and way we were treated was of such an amazing level, we were blown away.
To know that all the guests we had invited would be able to eat this food was such an amazing feeling :) To know, furthermore, that those with different dietary requirement, or those with food allergies, were going to have such an amazing range of choices (often not the case!) made us so happy.
And on the weekend, James and his wonderful team delivered the service with class, quiet confidence and added so much to the experience. We cannot thank you all enough for your part in our happy day - and we can't recommend Rhinecliff Event Catering highly enough for your special day!

Great food and super flexible
We loved working with James and Sharon at Rhinecliff catering for our wedding at Stone Tavern Farm. They had worked at the venue a lot and made everything super easy. They provided a wonderful and fun tasting before we booked them.
They also provided a second tasting once we had made our initial menu selections.
They were super flexible and allowed us to bring some of our own desserts (pittsburgh cookie table and our good friends ice cream) and set everything up for us.
They also went above and beyond for some special requests like edible flowers for prosecco.
All our guests were please with the food and the family style method was great for our large crowd.
The staff kept the wine flowing and brough seconds of anything that each table ate up quickly.
Everything was beautifully presented as well and the bartenders were on top of it.

Best Caterer...Ever.
James, Sharon, and the staff at Rhinecliff catering were amazing from the beginning to the end of our experience with them. My husband and I were nervous about figuring out who to cater the wedding, and as soon as we met James we felt immediately comfortable, not just because he’s an incredibly personable human being, but because of his professionalism, and the care he so obviously has for quality and his business.
Throughout the planning process, James and Sharon were responsive to and flexible with our suggestions and/or requests, including but not limited to creating a hors d'oeuvre that was meaningful to my husband, and graciously transporting a cake that we purchased from a bakery separate from their catering package. They also were able to make suggestions based on their long catering experiences, which were all excellent.
All of our guests commented on how wonderful the food was (which we already knew) - including our friends who I know are “foodies” and are always critical when we go out to eat. I didn’t have to worry for one second about how they were doing- they had the flow of the whole day planned perfectly.
My husband and I highly recommend Rhinecliff catering to everyone, for any event.
